In celebration of our 15th anniversary we’re expanding our community engagement programming and launching “Anything Goes: Musical Matinees with Mike” on select Sundays at Café Coda.
Professor Mike Leckrone will moderate a series of musical conversations that bring together glimpses of pop music history with live performances by Four Seasons Theatre singers and musicians. An endearing glance at the music of the Great American Songbook, the programs will provide an opportunity to learn how American popular music from 1900s-1950s was affected by ragtime, jazz, dance music, big bands, and musical theatre.
The Sunday, April 5 event has been postponed due to the coronavirus situation in Madison. We hope to reschedule for Sunday, June 7 and will post more details once that is confirmed. Thank you for your understanding.
As an Artistic Associate of Four Seasons Theatre, Professor Mike Leckrone will bring his considerable knowledge of jazz, musical theatre, and popular music to FST audiences in a new series of outreach events at Cafe Coda jazz club. In addition, Professor Leckrone and FST staff will collaborate on the development of an original Great American Songbook show each season.
Recently retired after 50 years at the helm of the University of Wisconsin Marching Band, Mike Leckrone is a legendary showmen, conductor, and educator whose musical arrangements, halftime shows, UW Varsity Band Spring Concerts, and popular music history courses have been enjoyed by thousands.
