The Playhouse at the Overture Center
Featuring songs written by Irving Berlin, one of America’s greatest composers, the cabaret concert will be performed at The Playhouse in Overture March 2, 3 & 4. Berlin’s career spanned over 40 years, from his first big hit, “Alexander’s Ragtime Band” (1911) to work in movie musicals and film, Top Hat (1926) and White Christmas (1943), and his last musical Mr President.
The cast includes: Susannah Brooks, Abby Stevens, Amanda Reichhold, Amy L. Welk, Michael Brunner, Bobby Goderich, Rick Henslin, and Bart Terrell. Joining them are narrators Marja Barger, Tamara Norden Brognano, and Wendy Jones Hill and dancers Cindy Severt and Dan Jackson.
Directed by Wendy Jones Hill, Narration by Tamara Norden Brognano, and Music Direction by Taras Nahirniak.
Tickets ($25 general, $20 students) are available now through the Overture Center online, by phone at (608) 258-4141, or in person.
Outside, the wind whipped hard enough to blow our hoods back and slip icy fingers beneath our scarves. But inside the Overture Center Playhouse, it was “nothing but blue skies” in Four Seasons Theatre’s second annual musical songbook, this time focusing on the music of Irving Berlin.
